You have to kill silently and alert the least number of enemies for getting a high rank in terms of the stealth ratings and this can only be done if you sneak up on your enemies. Every stage has certain number of guards which need to be killed without alerting any other guard. If a guard manages to escape the scene, he can amass the other guards which would then make a point to hunt you down around the level. The game requires effective use of the environment for hiding and then timing your attacks in such a way that you don’t create much disturbance.
